Position Coordinates claims processing for department, supervising coding/claims process and vendor contacts.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Develops/implements plan for information intake and claims processing from submission to payment.
Coordinates with staff to determine special project needs, budget information; submits documentation and implements process modifications.
Monitors schedules and processes to provide effective follow-up, system maintenance and claims completion.
Reviews process maps and claims history and organizes and oversees training courses relative to process developments.
Serves as liaison between department and associations, vendors, public relations offices, etc. regarding coding/claims and special project processes.
Provides testing processes, test results review and secretarial support for routine and special projects.
Establishes mailing list, filing and contact source lists.
Provides backup for front desk, answering telephones, mailing out results and other duties.
Developed office skills, including use of variety of data systems, general office equipment, effective telephone, interpersonal and communication skills, with working ability to use a variety of coding and claims systems.
Experience equivalent of Associateâ™s degree or two to three years of related experience in areas such as medical coding, claims processing, billing/collection practices and accounting; must have one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P); AAPC (CPC, CPC-H, or one of the AAPC specialty-specific coding credentials (the specialty-specific credential is only valid for that employeeâ™s department).
REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: The RHIT or RHIA (or eligible) certification in health information management may be recognized in lieu of a coding credential.
$53,900.00 - $83,500.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
