SIS SUPERVISOR The Student Information Systems (SIS) Supervisor is responsible for the accurate, timely, and comprehensive management of all district student information systems. This role oversees the daily operations of the SIS department and ensures the integrity, accuracy, and security of student data in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations. The SIS Supervisor provides leadership in supervising, assigning, reviewing, and participating in the work of staff engaged in maintaining and supporting the SIS. The position also monitors and analyzes both intermediate and longitudinal student data to inform decision-making and support district initiatives. Additionally, the Supervisor leads ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery, data reporting, and user experience, including the implementation of system improvements and expansions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential duties may include, but are not limited to:
Supervision & Leadership:
Lead and supervise SIS staff including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and professional development.
Assign and prioritize tasks to ensure timely and accurate data processing and reporting.
Data Accuracy & Integrity:
Oversee the collection, input, and maintenance of student data to ensure integrity, security, and compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
Implement quality assurance processes to identify and correct data inconsistencies.
System Management:
Manage and monitor the functionality of the SIS to ensure optimal performance.
Coordinate system upgrades, testing, and implementation of new modules or features.
Maintains FERPA and assigns user security access within system.
Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure compliance with all reporting deadlines and accuracy of submissions to district, state, and federal agencies.
Analyze longitudinal and intermediate student data to support academic and operational decision-making.
User Support & Training:
Provide technical support and training to district staff and users on SIS functionalities.
Creates and maintains written policies and procedures that will be utilized for training purposes as well as ensuring consistency, accountability, and accuracy of all SIS systems.
Serve as the district liaison for SIS-related issues and enhancements.
Provide high quality customer service to all stakeholders.
Process Improvement & Innovation:
Evaluate and recommend process improvements to streamline data workflows.
Lead initiatives to improve data usage and system integration across departments.
Collaboration & Communication:
Collaborate with district leadership, IT, academic services, and other departments to support strategic planning and data-driven initiatives.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding data policies, procedures, and system updates.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Education: Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Education, Public Administration, or a related field; or
Associate's degree plus 2-4 years of relevant work experience; or
High School Diploma/GED plus 4-8 years of relevant work experience.
Experience
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience working with student information systems in a K–12 or higher education setting.
Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Experience with data analytics platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Ability to think critically regarding system infrastructure and logical outputs and outcomes.
Environmental Conditions Office environment; works with computers and interaction with technical systems.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, type for prolonged periods, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
Equipment/Technology Handled: Must be proficient in student information systems (e.g., Synergy) and able to learn new technologies quickly. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and data validation tools preferred.
Work Environment: On-Site attendance is mandatory for this position. Must be flexible and able to work under pressure during reporting periods. Ability to collaborate across departments and work independently with minimal supervision is essential.
All GMCS schools are eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF). Relocation Expenses: 300 + miles: $3,000 Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for the signing incentives, you must be a new employee who was not employed in any position or certified capacity by GMCS during the 2024-2025 school year. For the relocation incentive, you cannot have received a relocation incentive within the last two (2) years to qualify for the Relocation Incentive for SY 25-26. Administration will provide processes and administrative clarification/decision-making for specific situations involving these incentives. This includes creating rules to support the incentives' successful implementation. The superintendent or his designee will make any final decision on implementing these incentives. Relocation expenses for all new teachers, counselors and administrators will be paid in full on the first paycheck of the school year.
